With his focus on early music, he is a popular guest star with the leading orchestras performing on historical instruments. He also performs most actively with modern chamber orchestras, and he is a soloist with the English Chamber Orchestra, the Berliner Barock Solisten, and the Zürcher Kammerorchester.
Maurice Steger has performed repeatedly with renowned artists such as Hilary Hahn, Sol Gabetta, or Thomas Quasthoff. Recitals in small ensembles or accompanied by harpsichord only are the core of his concert actvities. In recent years Maurice Steger has made numerous recordings, and now has a contract with Harmona Mundi.
The artist teaches master courses in some European countries and lives in Zurich. In 2002 for his wide musical achievements he was honoured with the highly prized Karajan award of the "Eliette von Karajan Kulturfonds".
