Lina Maria Åkerlund finished her academic training in Basel under Kurt Widmer, obtaining the teaching and soloist diploma with distinction.
She was a former member of the IOS Zürich and continued her further studies under Margreet Honig.
As an interpreter of song / Lied and chamber music as well as oratorios Lina Maria Åkerlund sang, amongst others, in the Musikverein Wien, in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Fundaçao Calouste Gulbenkian in Lissabon, und at the Internationalen Musikfestwochen in Luzern.
As an opera singer she gave guest performances both at home and abroad.
She primarily devotes herself to chamber music and has performed with Jürg Wyttenbach, Heinz Holliger, Christophe Coin, Hans Adolfsen, Kammerorchester Basel, Contrechamps, und Collegium Novum.
She has recorded a broad range of Cds and has performed numerous contemporary works for the first time.
Since 1995 Lina Maria Åkerlund has been a professor at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, teaching voice as a main subject. She is a visiting professor at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.
