Katarzyna Wieczorek was born to a family of musicians in Jelenia Gora (Hirschberg), Poland. She has won several prizes at national and international competitions. Playing with musicians such as Joseph Alesi, Michel Becquet, Matthias Hoefs, Giuliano Sommerhalder, Jonas Bylund, Oystein Baadsvik, Grace Bumbry, Claudio and Oscar Bohorquez, Frans Helmerson, and Ana Chumachenko has enriched her artistic development. She has given performances in Europe, South America, Asia, and in the US, and she has played at well-known festivals, such as the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele, Rheingau Festival, German Brass Academy, Spanish Brass Festival, Jeju International Wind Festival, Bastad Chamber Music Festival, Cervo l'Accademie, Bebersee Festival, and the Braunschweig Classix Festival.
She has recorded with WDR3 Cologne, BBC Radio in the "New Generation Artists" series, and for NDR television. She has played piano as an accompanying instrument at several competitions, for instance for ARD Munich, Aeolus Düsseldorf, Buenos Aires Violin Competition, Prague Spring Festival, and at the Wieniawski competition in Posnan. Both at Nevada University in Las Vegas and at Stetson University Orlando she has taught mastercourses.
From 2006-2010 Katarzyna Wieczorek held a teaching post at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover. Since 2009 she has been an associate professor at Essen's Folkwang Hochschule.
In addition to classical music, she devotes her activities to improvisation and to jazz music.
